Jan. 10--Economic growth this year is expected to stand at 3.7 percent due to uncertainties in the global environment, according to the Institute of Social and Economic Policy (Isep).
Poosana Premanoch, Isep's chairman, said the projection was based on an assumption that a US-Iraq war would break out this quarter and be more severe and costly than many had earlier expected.
Exports, which represent 60 percent of the country's gross domestic product, were expected to grow only 4 percent in 2003 due to economic weakness in the US and European markets.
