Toyota Expects to Sell 19 Percent More Vehicles in Thailand in 2003.

Jan. 15--Toyota, the biggest-selling car brand in Thailand, expects to sell 155,000 vehicles this year, 19 percent more than last year and above the 15 percent projected average growth for the industry in 2003.

Total sales by all brands would reach 470,000 units this year, of which Toyota would account for one-third, providing a major stimulus for the economy, said Ryoichi Sasaki, the president of Toyota Motor Thailand.

The improved economy, government policy to stimulate the domestic market and strong competition among carmakers, with regular new launches since last year, would lift sales, he said.
