Jan. 15--The Bank of Thailand expects its mediation service to help speed up debt restructuring of small non-performing loans now in the court system.

The central bank yesterday introduced the service for creditors and debtors, who would be encouraged to hold negotiations before cases reached the courts.

Debtors and creditors could conclude restructuring deals out of court, after signing an agreement at the end of the process, said Tumnong Dasri, director for the Corporate Debt Restructuring Advisory Group.
