Jan. 13--Economic growth for Asia is expected to average between 5 percent and 6 percent a year until 2010, leading global growth, according to Olarn Chaipravat, the chairman of the Shinawatra University council.

China was expected to lead growth for the region at an average rate of 7 percent to 8 percent, he told the 7th International Conference on Global Business and Economic Development last week.

Six other Asian countries -- South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines and Indonesia -- were expected to post growth of 4 percent to 6 percent, with Singapore and Hong Kong averaging growth of 3 percent to 4 ...
