2004 Deficit in Thailand Will Be Lowest Since Crisis.

Jan. 11--The government has set the fiscal 2004 budget at 1.038 trillion baht, with a preliminary deficit projection of 110 billion baht, according to Finance Minister Somkid Jatusripitak.
Dr Somkid said the deficit projection was the lowest since the economic crisis, and reaffirmed the government's commitment to fiscal consolidation as the economy improved.
The preliminary budget for the new fiscal year, which starts this October, was set based on expectations of continual recovery for the economy and the corporate sector.
