Jan. 9--Replacing revenue-sharing payments from private operators with an excise tax would weaken TOT Corporation and hurt its competitive edge, the TOT labour union said yesterday.
Union members raised their concerns during a meeting with Surapong Suebwonglee, the information and communications technology minister.
The union said that revenue paid by private telecom operators holding concessions granted by the former Telephone Organisation of Thailand amounted to more than 25 percent of TOT's total revenue.
