Jan. 9--Siam City Bank plans to buy a securities licence from Kim Eng Securities for 275 million baht.
The bank would establish a new company called Max Securities to offer brokerage services, using the licence previously held by Yuanta Securities, Amporn Ruangprasertkun, Siam City Bank's senior vice-president, said yesterday.
The move gives the state-owned bank a vital subsidiary able to offer securities underwriting, brokerage, dealing and advisory services.
The bank had previously lost its securities subsidiary after its takeover in 1997 during the economic crisis.
