Jan. 8--Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra yesterday told the National Economic and Social Development Board to reconsider its growth forecasts for 2003, saying that growth of 6 percent was within reach.
But NESDB officials countered that their current projections for 2003 growth of 3.5 percent to 4.5 percent were realistic and took into account fiscal stimulus policy and external risks such as a war in the Middle East.
The debate over growth projections arose yesterday when the NESDB, the government think-tank reporting to the PM's Office, presented its latest economic forecasts to the cabinet.
