Jan. 7--Thailand plans to export about 7.3 million to 7.5 million tons of rice this year, a slight increase from the 7.24 million tons shipped in 2002.
Last year, the country earned US$1.539 billion from rice exports, of which two million tons were shipped to Asia, three million to African countries and two million to Middle Eastern countries, said Commerce Minister Adisai Bodharamik.
This year, he said, the government and private companies would team up to promote more rice exports to China, targeting 12 provinces.
