Jan. 4--The Thailand operations of Siemens posted strong growth last year, with new orders rising by 70 percent and sales increasing 13 percent, according to Dr Heinrich Pierer, president and chief executive officer of Germany-based Siemens AG.
The rise was due mainly to important orders from Bangkok Metro Corporation Ltd (BMCL) to deliver and service the capital's first subway system, said Dr Pierer, who visited Bangkok yesterday.
The BMCL order alone was worth 350 million euros or 15.8 billion baht.
