Feb. 11--Although Thai shrimp exporters are suffering from the European Union's postponement of relaxed restrictions on import inspections, they remain optimistic that the measure will be just short term.

"Newin Chidchob (the deputy agriculture minister) has responded to this issue very quickly. I think the EU will understand and realise how Thailand is taking serious action on this problem," said Somsak Paneetatayasai, the president of the Black Tiger Shrimp Farmers, Producers, and Exporters Association.
