Feb. 11--Despite the prospects of a US-Iraq war, Thailand's exports are likely to post healthy growth of 5.5 percent to 6 percent this year while imports increase by 7.58 percent, the Commerce Ministry has said.
Export earnings are estimated at US$72.69 billion to $73.4 billion, according to Commerce Minister Adisai Bodharamik.
However, imports, mainly of capital goods needed by industries, are expected to cost $69.19 million, narrowing the trade surplus to between $3.5 billion and $4.21 billion, compared with $4.58 billion last year.
