Feb. 10--A new property loan service for low-income groups and run by the state-owned Government Savings Bank (GSB) is expected to lend up to 300,000 baht per borrower at 3.5 percent interest for the first year.

The service is part of the Finance Ministry's policy to revive the property sector and increase home ownership among low-income groups.

Applications in the first stage of the programme, involving the sale of thousands of small apartments and houses through the National Housing Authority with mortgage payments starting at just 1,000 baht a month, has attracted huge demand from the public in recent weeks.
