Thai Steel Firm to Expand Production of Hot-Rolled Coils.
Feb. 1--Sahaviriya Steel Industries Plc (SSI) expects to sell hot-rolled coils worth 32.4 billion baht this year, 38.5 percent more than last year, after expanding its production capacity to 2.4 million tonnes from 1.9 million tonnes.
Revealing the target, executive vice-president Win Viriyaprapaikit said the company aimed to boost sales to all customer groups at home and abroad, especially in China where demand had grown sharply. Targetted buyers include cold-rolling mills and vehicle makers.
SSI, Thailand's largest producer of hot-rolled coils, posted revenue of 24.07 billion baht last year, up by 82 percent from 13.18 billion baht in 2001.
