Aug. 1--Unhappy energy drink companies and the advertising agencies are up in arms over the government's classification of their products in the same segment as alcoholic drinks which are subject to advertising restrictions.

The makers of Kratingdaeng, M150, Carabao Dang and the Advertising Association of Thailand are forming a united front to seek to rewrite health authorities' advisory that energy drinks are detrimental to health and consumption should be curbed.

The cabinet on Tuesday decided to include energy drinks among products whose advertising would be banned from 5 am to 10 pm, starting on Oct 1.
