Making long-term lemonade

So with your long-term Jaguar you had a bad experience at the dealership (Sept. 6). Welcome to the real world of dealer "service.'' Now you know why we hate them and the mules they rode in on.

Barlow Soper, Ruston, La.

I've owned an XJ, XJR and XJR Coupe. None of them had any problems, electrical or otherwise. Service here in Tucson is top-drawer. Your Michigan dealer should have the nameplate taken from him.

Bill Westcott, Tucson, Ariz.

From the early '70s to the mid-'90s I owned a leasing company. We had a rule that we would not lease a Jaguar because of the problems (mainly Lucas) and the service. It looks like things haven't changed much except they don't have Lucas, but other things have taken their place.

William L. Plunkett, San Marino, Calif.
