Acura has infused its 2005 RSX lineup with more of what had already made it a top pick for front-drive fun.
Both RSX and Type-S receive new front and rear bumpers, while the Type-S features a unique decklid spoiler. Chunky side skirts are also new, as are the headlights and taillights, which eschew the former teardrop look in favor of squared-off pieces. More supportive sport seats highlight the interior.
Both cars benefit from a stiffer body, a quicker steer-ing ratio, stiffer steering rack, increased front spring rates and rear suspension travel, and added stiffer antiroll bars.
We drove the Type-S back to back with the 2004 model-already a voracious corner carver-and felt the improvements instantly. Along with the revised suspension, the larger 17-inch Michelin all-season tires provide noticeably more grip than the old wheel/tire/suspension combo, especially when accelerating through corners. We'd welcome a limited-slip differential, but the new setup is a big improvement, especially in light of the 2.0-liter iVTEC engine's increased power.
