The new Dodge Dakota is ready for a midsize truck battle, but questions on reliability and the lack of a Hemi engine may hurt it in dealer showrooms.
If it drives as good as it looks, I'll buy a new Dakota. The Chevy Colorado seems small, and the five-cylinder is just weird. I liked the two Ford Rangers I've had, but they look dated and I'm not waiting around for a new one.

The Dakota looks nice from the front, but pickups are supposed to have two doors, not three or four. If Dodge would make a regular-cab version of the new Dakota and drop the Hemi in it, I'd be interested.

I wouldn't buy a Dakota even if I could get over that ugly front end. Dodges are poorly made regardless of how much horsepower or towing capacity they have in their class. My Dakota R/T just blew an intake gasket at 33,000 miles, and the dealer mentioned Durangos have had similar problems.
