Luu: If I had $30,000 to spend, the STi would be at the top of my list. Aside from its boy-racer exterior, this Subie is too fast to ignore. The flat four's sound and endless power inspired me to drive as often as I would in something like a Porsche, which is to say a lot. The '05 model is better than the old one in every way.
For example, the new lateral rear suspension links and the front helical limited-slip differential-which sends power to the wheel with more grip-help control the wandering nature the old model exhibited during mid-corner throttle lifts. The interior is nicer than the Lancer Evolution's, and I appreciate the STi's extra power. The rear-biased all-wheel-drive system makes for tons of fun through switchbacks and tight corners alike.
