Mar. 7--The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) seeks to attract two million young visitors this year, up from 1.5 million last year.
TAT governor Juthamas Siriwan said the youth segment, representing visitors aged under 18, had higher spending potential, usually higher than the average tourist expenditures of 3,700 baht a day.
Top target markets will be Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore, which represent the bulk of youths travelling to Thailand.
She said children often did not travel alone but were accompanied by their parents and this would represent even more revenue for the country.
