Mar. 5--Three private-sector organisations will help the government strengthen the economies of border provinces in order to ease social problems, mainly caused by illegal immigration, and to make the provinces gateways to neighbouring countries.
Heads of the three private organisations -- the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), the Thai Bankers' Association and the Board of Trade -- met Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak on Monday to discuss the plan.
FTI chairman Phaphad Phodhivorakhun said the three bodies were willing to help and would propose action plans soon.
