Mar. 5--Siam City Cement Plc (SCCC), Thailand's second largest cement maker, has introduced a premium-grade cement and strategic pricing in a bid to increase its sales by 5-10 percent this year.
Managing director Vincent Bichet said the new Insee Tong (Gold Eagle) cement brand was aimed at the plastering and bridge-laying segments, which accounted for one-third of overall cement demand.
He said the premium cement could help save 10 percent of the cost of housing and building projects by reducing the amount of sand used.
The company estimates domestic cement consumption could reach 24 million tonnes this year, up from 22.5 million last year.
