Mar. 3--Thai Acrylic Fibre Co, a key unit of India's Aditya Birla Group, expects to increase output by 40 percent when its expanded Saraburi plant begins production in the middle of next year.
The country's sole acrylic-fibre maker would spend three billion baht to increase its capacity to 100,000 tonnes a year from 60,000 tonnes, in response to demand at home and abroad, said Deepak Mittal, the group's executive president who oversees textile production.
The new investment would make Thai Arylic Fibre one of the 10 largest acrylic manufacturers in the world, he said, with top-three status expected by 2008.
