Apr. 1--American International Assurance Co (AIA) is confident it will not be affected much by anti-American sentiment among Muslims in Thailand threatening to boycott US brands.

Business in the South remained in good shape, said Sataya Tepbunterng, vice-president and senior director for agencies. The company has very few customers in the heavily Muslim provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat and Satun, since its policies do not comply with certain Islamic proscriptions.

He said AIA in Malaysia had special products for Muslims but the Thai operation had yet to consider the option.
