Mar. 12--The eight-billion baht fund the government has budgeted for fuel subsidies will run out in 60 days, the cabinet was told yesterday.
The government based the subsidy budget on expectations petrol prices would rise three baht a litre if a war broke out in the Gulf and lifted global oil prices from US$33 to US$40 a barrel, the peak in the last Gulf War, said Energy Minister Prommin Lertsuridej.
He added that the oil subsidy should cover price disruptions based on the assumptions of a short war.
