Mar. 8--Confusion over who holds the rights for the popular Ultraman cartoon characters has deepened, with the local licensee of Tsuburaya Productions, the Japanese creator, declaring that Sompote Saengduenchai, who claims the rights, is misleading the public.
Mr. Sompote's claim that he holds the rights to all Ultraman characters in Thailand and worldwide, excluding Japan, is not true, said Sompote Thianthong, managing director of local licensee Pro-Link Co.
The claim has hurt Pro-Link's business and confused clients who used Ultraman characters for merchandising purposes, Mr. Sompote said.
