Apr. 10--Danish footwear maker ECCO yesterday announced a closer partnership with the Pan Group, the country's largest shoe exporter, to launch new initiatives aimed at strengthening Thailand's footwear industry.
ECCO founder and CEO Karl Toosbuy said the first project would involve ECCO persuading its European suppliers to relocate their production to Thailand.
ECCO (Thailand) must develop its sub-suppliers in order to reduce reliance on imported raw materials.
While local models were being developed, standards remained under European standards, Mr Toosbuy said yesterday during a visit to ECCO's factory.
