Apr. 10--Siam Commercial Bank yesterday warned that the Iraq war and the Sars epidemic could affect lending targets, now set at 2 percent net growth this year.
Khunying Jada Wattanasiritham, SCB president, said the bank was closely monitoring market developments, with particular concern for loans to tourist operators, hotels and other businesses directly affected by the Sars virus.
SCB has 10 billion baht in outstanding loans to the hotel sector, she said.
The bank met its operating targets for the first quarter, with 150 billion baht in loans restructured out of 250 billion in non-performing loans.
