Apr. 9--Thailand's two leading cineplex chain operators denied that they were charging an additional 10 baht per ticket in the first two weeks of a film's release at their cinemas as suggested by "consumers" who complained to the Consumer Protection Agency.

Major Cineplex Group Plc and SF Cinema City said the accusations were groundless, insisting that the prices they charged to moviegoers were fair.

Anavach Ongvasith, vice president for marketing of Major Cineplex Group Plc, the country's largest cinema chain operator, said currently the company had not changed ticket prices at their ten theatres, including the one in Chiang Mai.
