Apr. 9--The Board of Investment yesterday decided to waive the 80 percent export requirement for 400 promoted projects in order to address their impact on the revocation of some BoI privileges in line with a World Trade Organisation agreement.
After the relaxation, those 400 projects, mostly as integrated circuit producers, would be allowed to supply more products to the local market.
BoI secretary-general Somphong Wanapha said the relaxation would not affect local businesses as the promoted projects were primarily export-oriented manufacturers.
