Apr. 7--The Customs Department has proposed establishing a new tariff-free zone for small- and medium-sized enterprises producing for export markets.
Chaowalit Sethameteekul, the department's director-general, said that even though export-producing companies already enjoyed exemptions on raw material import taxes, value-added taxes and other incentives, tax payments had to be made first with refunds given following the export of products.
