Apr. 5--Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit has turned down a request from six major industries to ease curbs on heavy trucks entering parts of inner Bangkok at certain times of the day.

"We cannot ease the regulation for some industrial sectors since the measure offers benefits to the general public. We have to maintain the interest of the majority first," Mr Suriya said yesterday.

Under the new regulation, 10-wheel and larger trucks will be prohibited from entering a 113-square-kilometre area of inner Bangkok from 6 am to 9 pm.
