Apr. 3--Businesses must understand their market clearly if they are to survive amid increasing competition in the future, according to Banthoon Lamsam, president of Thai Farmers Bank.

Developing information technology and human resources were two other key factors behind successful businesses, he said yesterday at a seminar organised by the Thailand Management Association.

Shrinking margins and greater competition was forcing many firms to re-examine their manufacturing processes as well as improve product lines and quality controls.
