Apr. 3--Gen Mongkol Ampornpisit, the newly appointed chairman of Krung Thai Bank, pledged yesterday to improve transparency and value for shareholders and employees.

"I will try my best. I am confident that everyone will be proud of having me as bank chairman," Gen Mongkol said.

"My experience of over forty years as a civil servant and working at three state enterprises will help."

Gen Mongkol, a former supreme commander, succeeded Supachai Pisitvanich, who resigned from Krung Thai last month.

The new chairman said overall bank policy would not change.
