May 14--Foreign companies are now required to bring in capital equal to at least one-quarter of their investment and operating costs in its first three years under a new regulation aimed at increasing foreign investment.
The new regulation under the 1999 Foreign Business Act applies to investments longer than three years. For shorter terms, the required amount is based on the number of years of the investment, according to Sakol Harnsuthiwarin, deputy director-general of the Business Development Department
Under the earlier Alien Business Law, foreign investors were required to bring a minimum of five million baht.
