May 13--The government has approved an additional 100,000 to 200,000 baht for each of the 23,945 villages rated as having excellent management of their one-million village funds.
The village fund was part of the Thaksin Shinawatra government's policies to improve the grass-root economy.
The additional funds will be separated from the original village fund, which currently has about four billion baht left.
The 46,439 villages rated as having average management and the remaining 1,888 villages with poor management ratings will not be eligible for more funds and their management will have to be improved first.
