May 13--Thailand is unlikely to be found guilty of alleged dumping of steel reinforcing bars in the New Zealand market due to the country's small export volume, according to the Iron and Steel Institute of Thailand.
Wikrom Vajragupta, director of the institute, said the exports of steel reinforcing bars, used mainly in construction projects, from Thailand to New Zealand were rare as the product was a special-purpose steel required only in small quantities.
A New Zealand company, Pacific Steel, yesterday accused companies in Malaysia and Thailand of illegal trading by exporting cut-price goods in competition with locally-made products.
