May 13--Matsushita Electric Works (Thailand) has earmarked one billion baht in new capital for its fifth production plant in Thailand, which will be used as an export base to Indochina.
The company plans to begin building the plant in April next year. It would create 2,000 new jobs with expected exports of five billion baht a year.
Chief executive Osamu Yanoo met Industry Minister Somsak Thepsuthin yesterday to discuss the new venture, which would make products under the National, Panasonic and Nais brands.
