May 13--Finance Minister Suchart Jaovisidha turned escape artist yesterday after the computer system in his BMW 520 failed, trapping him inside.

The incident occurred just a few metres from the minister's home, as he was en route to a meeting at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel.

Mr Suchart said he and his driver were trapped inside the car for 10 minutes before security guards arrived from his housing estate.

All of the car's doors and windows locked automatically when the computer failed, and the air-conditioning shut down as well.
