May 13--Nine Asian countries have already made a commitment to inject funds into the Asian bond fund, which is expected to start operations later this year with initial capital of at least US$1 billion, according to Finance Minister Suchart Jaovisidha.
Mr. Suchart declined to identify the countries participating, but said that Japan would definitely be a member.
The Thai government has already approved the injection of up to $200 million in international foreign reserves for the fund.
