May 12--Sales of sun protection lotion are expected to fall 20 percent in the peak summer season as the Sars outbreak in Asia and the war in Iraq have led to a sharp drop in both local and foreign visitors to Thailand's beach resorts.
The sales value of sun protection lotion during March-May, a period when normally half of the full-year's sales are made, is expected to drop to 160-200 million baht, or by 40-50 million baht from the same period last year. During the past few years, sun cream sales have grown an average of 30 percent annually during the peak summer period.
