May 8--Following the success of last week's travel fair, a similar event largely aimed at local travellers will be held in June in a bid to help revive the country's struggling tourism industry.

The International Youth & Eco-Travel Mart staged in Bangkok last week attracted more than 400,000 visitors and generated sales of 250 million baht, helped by discounts of up to 70 percent on transport and accommodation packages.

Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak estimated that the tour packages sold at the event would result in an additional injection of 20 billion baht into the economy.
