May 8--Electricity Generating Plc (Egco) is set to buy stakes in BLCP Power Plant in Rayong held by CLP Powergen Southeast Asia Ltd and Banpu Plc.

President Kraisi Karnasuta said the company was in negotiations with the two energy companies to acquire shares in the 1,346-megawatt coal-fired power project, with talks scheduled to be concluded in June.

Banpu and Hong Kong's CLP (China Light & Power) each hold 50 percent in BLCP.

Banpu has expressed interest in selling off its 50 percent holding in BLCP, with 15 percent expected to be allocated to Egco and the remaining 35 percent to Ratchaburi Electricity ...
