May 6--Industry Minister Somsak Thepsuthin disagrees with the Trade Competition Board's ruling that AP Honda Co engaged in unfair trade practices in the motorcycle business.

He described the ruling as unusual for the automotive business. "It is common in business -- the dominant players will stay on top while the weaker ones will fall by the wayside," he said.

Mr Somsak said Honda motorcycles gained a majority market share after the economic crisis in 1997-98 when it became the first company to make four-stroke engine models locally, earning substantial sales from heavy promotion of the cleaner, more fuel-efficient ...
