Hua Hin, Thailand, Area Set to Exploit Golf, Spa Niche Status.

May 1--Special events and hotel discounts of up to 60 percent are planned to position the Hua Hin/Cha-am area as golf and spa destination during the coming low tourism season.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and local hoteliers are also promoting the area as one where visitors need not be concerned about Sars.
Hoteliers in the area hope to achieve occupancy rates for the May-October period on par with last year's levels, despite the sharp downturn in travel caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome outbreak and the war in Iraq.
