May 1--The Thai-language financial information provider Qthai will cease operations after only three years, having failed to secure sufficient subscription and advertising fees.

According to a source close to Qthai, parent Quamnet (Thailand) will immediately shut down its online financial information services.

He said the firm saw the online services as having no future growth potential in Thailand as just a handful of people are willing to pay subscription fees for the Net-based service and that advertising on the Internet remained relatively small in the country.
