Islamic Bank of Thailand Eyes Petroleum Venture.

Jun. 13--The Islamic Bank of Thailand has expressed interest in investing in the country's petroleum industry in a venture with the Government of Brunei, according to bank chairman Aree Wong-araya.
Mr Aree said the bank had already held talks with Brunei officials about possible investment ventures. The Islamic Bank of Brunei Berhad holds a 15 percent stake in the new Islamic Bank of Thailand.
One possibility being considered is having the Islamic Bank of Thailand purchase oil from Brunei producers for resale to Thai refiners.
