Jun. 12--A new futures exchange can be set up within 180 days after a new derivatives act formally becomes law, with trade expected to begin next year.
Rinjai Chaiyasut, vice-president for the programme development department at the Stock Exchange of Thailand, said trade would initially start with institutional investors and be expanded to the general public in late 2004.
She said the new futures exchange would begin with three products, based on exchange rates, the stock index and interest rate futures.
