Thai Authorities Crackdown on `Zero-Dollar' Tours.
Jun. 11--Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak will lead a delegation to China from Sunday to next Thursday to promote Thailand's tourism products and tackle longstanding problems involving "`zero dollar" tours.
Zero-dollar tours are cheap packages organised by Chinese agents in collaboration with Thai tour companies. The latter "buy" tourists from the Chinese agencies and recover their costs by forcing them into overpriced shopping centres and entertainment venues that pay commissions to guides.
Such tour packages had damaged the reputation of the country's tourism industry ...
