Jun. 10--The value of Thailand's exports rose 19.7 percent to US$31.5 billion in the first five months of this year, according to preliminary figures from the Commerce Ministry.
The rise was driven by a world economy that continued to expand despite the impact of the Sars outbreak, notably in Asia, officials said yesterday.
Among the good performers during the period were seafood, canned and processed vegetables, chicken, rice, rubber, electrical appliances, garments, automobiles and parts, gems and jewellery.
